When Travel & Leisure picked my hometown area in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin as a top pick to travel for Labor Day weekend, I just had to give a local person’s point of view on this beautiful location to visit and to live.
Rent one of the many cottages on Geneva Lake and enjoy boating, sailing, restaurants, music and hiking the 21 miles of lake shore path around the lake. You can do the whole path in one day if you’re feeling adventurous through the towns William’s Bay, Fontana and Lake Geneva or just do parts of the lakeshore path.
Take a boat tour around the lake on a private tour or the famous mailboat cruise through Gage Marine.
Relax and enjoy nature at its best along the lakeshore. If you enjoy perennial gardens this is the place to hike.
Enjoy viewing historic homes along the lakeshore.
The local bookclub meets out on the water for one of their monthly meetings.
Great restaurants to choose from like, Medusa’s and Sopra.
Don’t forget to check out the Walworth County Fair over Labor Day weekend. I always pick up a box of freshly pulled taffy and the famous cinnamon rolls.
