My Autumn Reading List

If you are like me and autumn signifies a time to simmer some soup on the stove, curl up to a roaring fire in the fireplace and dive into a fantastic novel, then here are a few books on my bedside table right now.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas is a classic about adventure and redemption that I have always wanted to read.

Small Victories by Anne Lamott is my book club’s read this month and I just love the way she is insightful and sees the wonders in life.

The Women in the Castle by Jessica Shattuck is the much anticipated WWII read.

Salt by Mark Kurlansky is a history of the world seen through the spice trade.  A must read for any foodie in your life.

This is the Story of a Happy Marriage by Ann Patchett is nonfiction by this excellent writer.

The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry is my big read this fall that I cannot wait to dive into.

Beartown by Fredrik Backman is by the author who wrote A Man called Ove which was one of my favorite books this year.

A Column of Fire by Ken Follett is his newest novel and you didn’t need to read any of his past books to start this one.  I see a new trilogy starting.

Origin by Dan Brown is going to be another blockbuster.

The Purloining of Prince Oleomargarine is the much anticipated unfinished work by Mark Twain and Philip Stead with Illustrations by Erin Stead.  Terrific gift idea for everyone.

and Leonardo Da Vinci by Walter Isaacson is, well, my number 1 read for the upcoming season of snowfall.  I can’t wait.  Enjoy!
