The Lions

My favorite Christmas decoration in Chicago, the lions at the Art Institute.  I miss the green wreath, but this is still so festive.  The Art Institutes gift shop is one of the best places to find unusual gifts or books for the art lover in your life.  www.artinstituteshop.org

I went to one of the best shows I’ve ever been to this week end at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.  There were all of these wonderful artists and their crafts.  I can’t wait to share all of the artists websites with you.  The show was called One of a kind Show and Sale and it was exactly what they said it was.  www.oneofakindshowchicago.com I can’t wait to go next year!

If you’re looking for the perfect girlfriend gift, I loved the large heart necklaces by Carrie Natari at www.fotobot.com I bought one that had the word Paris on it with a background in pink.

I found these hand stamped necklaces that I can’t wait to order at www.magpiedesignz.com

If you have anyone who loves sailing or just being on the water check out www.seafevergear.com for bags, totes and wallets hand crafted from sails.  Very Cool!

One of my favorite gifts for people from 1 to 90 are custom designed bath boats at www.bathboats.com   I love giving these as baby gifts, shower gifts or graduation gifts.  If you are giving a larger gift, they make a great decoration on top of a package.

If you’re looking for something to jazz up your jean jacket or freshen up a tired sweater look up www.bluetnewyork.com for their handcrafted pins and belts. Awesome!!!!

I’m loving the website from Kate Spade called www.refinery29.com I really enjoyed the editor’s picks of gift giving this holiday season.

I love this website for destination prints at www.anastasiamak.com This would be a great gift for a co-worker or anyone who loves to travel.

Luxurious jewelry www.tzenboutique.com is worth checking out.

I’ve found the secret to creamy fudge without worrying about a candy thermometer, instead of using sugar use sweetened condensed milk and marshmallow fluff. Yummy and Easy—I Promise!

Milk Chocolate Fudge

1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk ( I use Eagle Brand )

1 (7 1/2 ounce jar) of Marshmallow Fluff

3 Cups of Milk Chocolate Chips ( I use Ghirardelli)

1 teaspoon of vanilla

1 Cup nuts ( I use Walnut chips)

Mix the milk and marshmallow fluff together.  Heat over low heat until all are mixed together.  Add the chocolate chips, vanilla, and stir until the chips have melted.  Add nuts if desired.  Beat until thick ( this won’t take long).  I pour onto buttered waxed paper and let set or I let it harden in the refrigerator.  You may use semi-sweet chips if you like.  I must admit that kids love this without the nuts.  I package this up in a Container Store container and wrap with a ribbon for a special gift to just about anyone.  I think I might make this up for my college kids this year.
